Rural Electric members Alan Gibson, Andrew Carpenter and Mike Bahner have been collaborating with singer-songwriter Alyssa Kelly ever since their paths crossed at a Belfast house party in spring of 2019. By 2020, Sean Ociepka, bassist from the Leaky Boot Jug Band, joined to complete the new sound. Horn player Julian Stearns steps up from time to time to add his brilliance. Branding themselves Muskeg, the five Waldo County-based musicians perform a merged collection of original tunes that span decades of rock-n-roll audacity and day-job preservation. Their Americana sound delivers poetic lyrics, vocal harmonies, and traces of their alt-country and indie rock heroes.
